ARTICLE 4
MEMBERSHIP
Section 4.1. Members. The members of this Corporation shall consist of those men who have complied with the requirements set forth in Section 4.2 of this Article and have properly presented themselves for membership in accordance with the procedures determined by the board of directors. There shall be three classes of membership. No person may hold more than one membership at any one time.
Membership shall not be assignable inter vivos by any member, nor shall membership vest to any personal representative, heir, or devisee.
The Following Sections 4.2 and 4.3 will be replaced effective January 1, 2011 with the new provisions as noted following the currently effective sections.
Section 4.2. Requirements of Membership. Basic requirements of membership in MDI are as follows:
(a) Each MDI member will strive to uphold and live by the Code of Honor and Core Values of MDI and the standards of any team of which he is a member.
(b) Each MDI member will pay required dues, as set by the board of directors, depending upon class of membership.
(c) Each MDI member shall have reached the age of majority in his resident locale.
Section 4.3. Classes of Membership. The board of directors defines the following classes of membership:
1. General Membership:
(a) Each MDI General Member meets the requirements outlined in Section 4.2.
(b) Each MDI General Member will have successfully completed an initiation process sanctioned by the board of directors, or
(c) Each MDI General Member was a member in good standing of MDI at any time prior to January 1, 2004 or has successfully completed an MDI initial team member training/Point Program for new members, as defined in the MDI Point Program policy.
(d) Is a member in good standing of an MDI team or organized assembly of men within MDI.
(e) Adheres to the chain of command of MDI.
(f) Each MDI member will have signed a Release of Liability form approved by the board of directors, according to a board-determined schedule.
2. Alumni Membership:
(a) Each MDI Alumni meets the requirements outlined in Section 4.2.
(b) Each MDI Alumni Member will have successfully completed an initiation process sanctioned by the board of directors
(c) Provides a class of membership to graduates (alumni) of any board-sanctioned initiation process but do not wish to be part of an MDI Division.
(d) Does not have any voting privileges in MDI.
(e) May hold certain MDI International leadership positions that relate to MDI- sanctioned or sponsored events or programs. Any alumni member wishing to serve in any leadership position must be approved by the president of MDI or his designee, and is accountable to the designated manager within the organizational structure.
3. Associate Membership:
(a) Meets the requirements outlined in Section 4.2.
(b) Will have made a commitment to successfully complete an initiation process sanctioned by the board of directors within one year after becoming an Associate member.
(c) Provides a class of membership for men who wish to be members of MDI and have not yet graduated from any board-sanctioned initiation process or who are waiting to or is attending a MDI initial team member training/Point Program for new members.
(d) Does not have voting privileges in MDI.
(e) May not hold any leadership position that relates to any MDI-sanctioned or sponsored events.
(f) Is a member in good standing of an MDI team or organized assembly of men within MDI.
(g) Adheres to the chain of command of MDI.
(h) Each MDI member will have signed a Release of Liability form approved by the board of directors, according to a board-determined schedule.
The Following Section 4.2 will become effective January 1, 2011 at which time Section 4.3 will be deleted.
Section 4.2. Requirements of Membership. In order to be and maintain membership in MDI, each MDI member shall:
(a) strive to uphold and live by the Code of Honor and Core Values of MDI and the standards of any team of which he is a member;
(b) pay required dues, as set forth by the board of directors;
(c) have reached the age of majority in his resident locale;
(d) have executed a Terms of Use Agreement as set by the Board of Directors;
(e) adhere to the chain of command of MDI; and
(f) have signed a Release of Liability form approved by the board of directors, according to a board-determined schedule
Section 4.3. Delete in its entirety Section 4.3. Classes of Membership
Section 4.4. Expulsion or Suspension of a Member or Termination of Membership. Membership of any member shall cease on the happening of any of the following events:
