Mandelmap
Robert P. Munafo, 2023 Apr 17.
Mandelmap is a 2016 poster, a commercial art project of Bill Tavis funded mainly through Kickstarter. For a time it had a website at www.mandelmap.com.
The poster shows the Mandelbrot set with many features identified by their colloquial names along with artwork by Lena Martin showing the resemblance of the Mandelbrot features to other objects such as elephants and tree branches. A large number of external rays are drawn in, with external angle denominators of the form 2n and 2n-1. There are inset photos illustrating islands and bifurcation of the surrounding filaments, several examples of medallions (embedded Julia sets) all drawn from the neighborhood of R2F(1/2(2/3B1)B1)S, and a few other key features such as nets and the presence of multiple different rotational symmetries in the filaments of secondary, tertiary, etc. mu-units.
From the Mandelbrot Set Glossary and Encyclopedia, by Robert Munafo, (c) 1987-2024.
