Embossed Rendering

Robert P. Munafo, 2023 Jun 28.

An "embossed" or "quasi 3-D" rendering is a way of adding color differences to make an image appear to have some 3-D slope, as if there were different heights to different pixels. Typically this is done by lightening or darkening the colours that would otherwise be drawn. See pictures in the Representation Functions article.
