Goals (glossary entry)

Goals are part of the hierarchy: statements, actions, tasks, goals, projects, mission and purpose. The page on priorities discusses this hierarchy in detail.

It is important to note that goals are a means to an end: they serve larger projects or more long-term objectives or strategies — and all of these, in turn, serve a purpose.

Setting goals, and then either making them or not making them, has a significant impact on self-esteem. This aspect of goals is discussed on the integrity page.

Goals from the point of view of a team have their own special functions and dynamics. This is discussed more fully in the "for teams" section of MCV09.
