Example 8-core Nehalem-EP build
This build by sda3 (video here) uses the same Xeon CPUs as in my "early 2009" Mac Pro. These were the first "Nehalem" Xeons, and used the LGA-1366 socket.

Example 12-core Westmere-EP build
This is a dual X5650 build by claytonjones006 (video here). It is unique in being an overclocked dual Xeon system. The Xeon X5650s and memory have both been overclocked, and by different amounts. The CPUs are overclocked by increasing the QPI frequency, in this case going from the normal 133.333 MHz up to 200 MHz, which raises the Xeon's base clock speed from the normal 2.66 GHz up to 4.0 GHz.
