This is a man who participated in my Men's work community for about three years, before leaving our circles in the most tragic way imaginable.

As a tribute to what he stood for, I here quote directly and without modification his online self-introduction in its entirety:


My name is Matt and this is where I store my ramblings and professional projects. This blog serves as my whole digital presence. I find that traditional social media tends to isolate parts of ourselves resulting in a loss of individual wholeness.

Obituary of Matthew Brian Krolick

February 7, 1989 – May 15, 2026

Matthew Brian Krolick, 37, of Watertown, Massachusetts, passed away on the 15th May, 2026. Born on the 7th February 1989 in Tampa, Florida, he was the beloved son of Dana Konopka and Dr. Merrill Alan Krolick.

Matthew attended Shorecrest Preparatory School and later earned undergraduate and Master’s degrees in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He worked as a robotics engineer for Boston Dynamics.

Outside of work, Matthew was a powerlifter, musician, and pilot with an instrument rating. He played guitar, bass guitar, and cello, and had a lifelong love of animals. Other interests he expressed on his personal blog included: Improvisational and Ecstatic Dance, Mysticism and Shamanism, the intersection of Science and Spirituality, Meditation and Breathwork, and "Men’s Work" (in the Robert Bly tradition, as currently manifested by MDI. He was known for his kindness, loyalty, and willingness to help his friends whenever they needed him.

In addition to his parents, Dana Konopka Krolick and Dr. Merrill Alan Krolick, Matthew is survived by his brother, Alex Krolick; his aunt, Theresa Howard (Keith); and Karen “Wren” Medina, his devoted best friend.

Matthew will be laid to rest at Serenity Memorial Park and Cremation Gardens at 1300 on the 30th May 2026; Celebration of Life to follow at Serenity Funeral Home, 13401 Indian Rocks Road, Largo, Florida 33774
