ALUMNI MEMBERSHIP
Leader: Cook
- Needs a team, someone who believes in it, is responsible
- Men should clearly be part of our ranks.
- Include other men's' circles. Renegade teams should be included.
- A place for every man. If men have their own place to go, they may not carry lots of baggage.
- Use website & newsletter. Let men know about upcoming events.
- Have frequent events that grads can come to, to just "hang out" with other men.
- Invite men who quit back in.
- Make roster of every man who did the weekend, including men who were kicked out of divisions, point teams, etc.
- Get clarity over fee structure.
- Vision: 100 men @ campsite w/current & non-division men. Create linkage — host alumni events that don't "feed the enrollment machine".
- Gives place for graduates to bring legacy, and just be in a place of power with the men.
- Need a place for every man without diluting the core that participates at the highest level (active SMW grads).
- Regular communications with grads (newsletter?) to let them know they are not forgotten, and let them know what is happening and where they can participate.
- Embrace other circles of men (Renegade, etc.).
- Autonomous from division but with close linkage.
- Host events such as Honor Father Feast, offsite, enrollment/hangout events.
Discussion
Q: Can we offer men who are traveling a lot a way to access MDI?
A: It's always been in-or-out, black or white. We want to create a space for men to come whenever they want.
Q: That's an excellent idea. We should offer those men the same training we offer MDI men
A: I Agree. We must be in close contact with these men
Q: I like what you're saying, especially building rosters, but I'm concerned that registration forms are confidential.
A: True, but were talking about all the men who get lost along the way
Q: What do you mean by autonomous
A: It's a gray area. Is the Alumni part of the Division? We need clarity around that.
Q: It's is not an Alumni Association, it's an Alumni Membership in MDI. This is a great way for those men who want to remain connected with MDI.
A: That's really good. We don't want men to feel like they can't be a part of what we do
Q: We should make those men feel like they belong
A: These men will create their own leadership structure. We don't know what it will look like and I don't think we should dictate the structure to them. They should be their own team.
Note: New Frontier is apart from MDI.
Q: It needs to be clear, maybe a "renegades association"
A: Yes, maybe, thank you.
