Empowerment (glossary entry)    

Empowerment is the communal component of ownership. It is the extent to which one's ability to fulfill one's objectives is aided by (and not hindered by) the actions of others.

It is important to realize that one can be emowered by others, yet still be hindered by a sense of disempowerment due to mistrust.
